FC Wisconsin Alumni Are Making Their Collegiate Mark

FC Wisconsin continues to have more alumni playing collegiately than any other club in the state. With more than 80 current alums playing college soccer across the United States at every level, FC Wisconsin players are making a big imprint when they move to the next stage of their careers.
The collegiate season is now in full swing across all divisions and FC Wisconsin alums are playing major roles in their team's season successes. They are continuing to make their mark in Division I, II, III and NAIA competition across the country.
NCAA Division I:
Duke University: The #18 ranked Blue Devils have had a good start to the season going 4-2-2. Senior Ruben Mesalles who was selected to the ACC Pre-Season watchlist leads the team in minutes played so far this season. Mesalles would pick up an assist in their recent 2-2 tie with the #1 ranked Stanford University.
University of Wisconsin - Madison: The Badgers have had a fantastic start to the season, posting a 6-2-1 record. The #8 nationally ranked Badgers have had some big wins this season, most recently beating UCLA 4-1. Sophomore Will Smith has seen action in seven games on the season, posting two shots on goal. Smith has seen the most action of any Wisconsin native on the Badgers' roster.
Davidson College: It was a tough start to the season for Davidson, but they have won two out of their last three games to now sit with a 2-3-4 record on the year. Junior Denis Kriotchenkov leads the team again in goals and assists for the season. Kriotchenkov would notch two assists in the recent 2-0 win over A10 rival St. Joseph University. Senior Vincent Bennage, who has been battling injury for most of the season, has seen action in five games and is hoping to return to full action soon. Sophomore Benjamin Lacocque has also been battling injury and has seen action in four games. Both Kriotchenkov and Bennage were named to the NCAA Division I ‘Forwards to Watch List’ for the 2024 season after having stellar seasons for the Wildcats in 2023, leading the team in goals and assists.
University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee: It’s been a strong start to the season for the Panthers who have a 4-2-3 record. Freshman Jack Wagner, coming off an excellent pre-season, has started all 10 games for the Panthers. Wagner leads the team in minutes played so far this season. Fellow freshman Praise Ogwu has seen action in six games for the Panthers and recorded his first assist in the recent 3-3 tie with Horizon League rival Wright State University.
Drake University: The Bulldogs have had an excellent start to the season posting a 6-3-1 record. A trio of FC alumni helped them to an opening day 3-0 win over Grand View University. Senior Evan Carlson tallied a goal and an assist in the game, and fellow senior Erich Legut notch his first assist on the year. Senior Austin Holtebeck captains the team and ranks third in total minutes played for the team. Noah Corrigan, a junior, also saw action in the recent 4-0 conference win over Belmont University.
DePaul University: Senior goalkeeper Santi Davilla is coming off earning a spot on the Big East Weekly Honors Roll, helping the Blue Demons to a 3-4-2 record. He registered a career-high nine saves against in the recent 3-1 win over Loyola, while facing 21 shots. Against Xavier, Davila made four saves and earned the first clean sheet of his collegiate career.
Wright State University: The Warriors have had a solid start to the season, posting a 5-3-2 record. Junior goalkeeper Alessandro Malterer, who had a strong 2023 season after transferring from DII Catawba College, started the first three games before suffering injury. Malterer made eight saves in the opening day defeat to Grand Canyon.
University of Wisconsin – Green Bay: After a tough start to the season, going 0-2, the Phoenix have bounced back and shown excellent form, posting a 7-3 overall record. Sophomore defender Oscar Arroyo, who missed out on the opening day loss to Northwestern due to injury, made his season debut in the 4-2 loss to UIC. Arroyo has seen action in nine games on the season. Fellow FC alum and freshman, James Dorchester, made his collegiate debut in the 2-1 win over UW-Parkside. FC Wisconsin North alum Spencer Dunlap, a junior, has seen action in three games.
Bradley University: It has been a tough start to the season for the Braves, recording a 3-6-1 record. Senior goalkeeper Alex Grow has seen action in five games on the year. His most recent action was in the 2-1 loss to Bowling Green.
St. Bonaventure University: The Bonnies have had a tough start to the season with a 3-5-2 record. Junior Will O’Connor made his season debut in the loss to the Cleveland State Vikings. O’Connor would record his first collegiate assist in the recent loss to Niagara University.
Northern Kentucky University: The Norse, although only losing two games on the season, have a had a tough start, posting a 1-2-6 record. Redshirt freshman Gavin Kreitmeir has seen action in three games on the year. Kreitmeir would record a shot on goal in the recent 3-0 win over Western Illinois.
NCAA Division II:
University of Wisconsin – Parkside: Coming off an excellent 2023 year where the Rangers went to the NCAA National Tournament, Parkside has had another strong start to the season. The Rangers already sit 3-1-2 and ranked #21 in the nation. Senior Chris Estrada leads the team in goals and points with three goals and one assist on the year so far. Estrada scored two goals in the recent 2-2 tie with Purdue Northwest. Junior Valentin Sandoval has seen action in five games and scored the game winner in their recent 1-0 win over Illinois Springfield. Freshman Steffan Zekanovic has seen action in four games, and picked up the assist on Sandoval’s goal against Springfield.
Northern Michigan University: The Wildcats have had a solid season so far with a 4-3-1 record. After an impressive junior year, senior Logan Lazar has seen action in all eight games thus far. Lazar played significant minutes in the most recent loss to nationally-ranked St. Cloud State University. Tyler Kowalczyk has seen action in five games during his freshman year.
NCAA Division III:
Unversity of Wisconsin - Whitewater: The Warhawks, with the help of five FC alums, have had a solid start to the season, posting a 5-4-3 record. Senior Fionnbharr Hartnett has started all 12 games, adding an assist to his name in the recent 1-1 tie with Loras. Fellow senior Payton Nicholls has also started 12 games on the season and has two goals and one assist on the season. Freshman Aidian Martin recorded his first collegiate goal in the recent loss to Edgewood. Martin has seen action in nine games. Junior Zeke Healey has seen action in 12 games, starting three games. Sophomore Max O’Schasky has seen action in three games.
St. Norbert College: The Green Knights have had a tough start to the year and are currently 2-6-3. Three FC alums are contributing to their season though. Senior Stjepan Peharda has started all 11 games, and fellow juniors Dom Lagona and Payton Schliz have seen action in 11 games, both scoring one goal on the year.
Carroll University: The Pioneers, under first year head coach and FC Wisconsin coach Andrew Kohel, have had a great start to the year with a 5-4-1 start on the season. Senior Sam Dorchester has started all 11 games and helped lead the team to a last-minute win over Carthage College. Sophomore Henry Picard has also seen action in five games on the year.
Concordia University - Wisconsin: The Falcons have had a tough season so far with a 2-5-2 record. One shining light has yet again been senior Alishan Sharipov. The Falcon standout is leading the team in goals and points. Sharipov has three goals to his name, scoring a brace in the recent 3-1 win over St. Norbert College. Logan Walker has seen action in eight games, notching his first career goal in the 1-1 tie with Carroll University.
Wisconsin Lutheran College: Coming off a stellar 2023 season, the Warriors have had an superb start to the season with a 7-2-1 record. Junior defender Jack Leffel is carrying on from his excellent sophomore season where he was named a First Team All-NACC and United Soccer Coaches All-Region honoree. Leffel has started nine games and scored his second goal on the season in the recent 3-2 win over Concordia University.
Ripon College: The Red Hawks have had an excellent season so far with an 8-3 record helped by eight FC Wisconsin alumni. Senior Eli Dietzel, coming off an excellent junior year, has seen action in all 11 games. Fellow senior and FC North alum Timothy Geocaris has started all 11 games and scored his first goal of the season in their win over Martin Luther College. Younger brother Thomas Geocaris, a sophomore, has seen action in 11 games and leads the team with five assists on the year. Junior Connor Handrick has seen action in 11 games, starting four games. Sophomores Drew Seyfer has made five appearances in goal for the Red Hawks and Hashim Khan has also seen action in four games. Sophomore Eric Staszak has seen action in 10 games, picking up two assists. Owen Kramer, in his freshman year, has played in nine games, scoring his first collegiate goal in the recent 4-1 win over Eureka College.
University of Wisconsin - Superior: Senior goalkeeper Alex Paredes, who had an wonderful 2023 season, is again the starting keeper for the Yellow Jackets. Superior has had an excellent start, with a 6-2-2 record. Paredes who missed the start of the season due to injury, has now started the last eight games and only conceded seven goals on the year - a 0.94 GAA. Paredes kept another clean sheet in the recent 2-0 win over Bethany Lutheran College.
University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point: The Pointers, in their inaugural season, have had an great start, posting a 7-2-3 record. No fewer than six FC alums are impacting the roster and contributing to the Pointers' success. Jack Hudson leads the way, starting 11 games, notching two goals, and five assists for nine points on the year. Hudson scored his first career goal in the 2-0 win over Lakeland College. Riley Nycz has started all 12 games and has one goal and three assists on the year, leading the team in minutes played. Marcelo Chavez has seen action in 10 games and had a break out game in the recent 5-1 win over Beloit, scoring his first collegiate goal and adding an assist in the game. Hayden Johnson has started nine games, Blake Rhodes has seen action in all 12 games, starting two games, and Ben Uelmen has seen action in four games on the year.
University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire: The Blugolds have had another strong start to the season, sitting with a 8-1-2 record. A trio of FC Wisconsin freshman have managed to see minutes in their first collegiate season. Jaxon Marshall has seen action in four games, making his career debut in the 4-1 win over Macalester. Orion Konitzer has seen action in two games and Caden Vande Hey has seen action in three games on the season so far.
Milwaukee School of Engineering: The Raiders have started the season with a solid 4-4-4 record. Junior Daniel Aranda has started all 12 games, picking up his first goal of the season in the 2-2 tie with Wartburg College.
Macalester College: Senior midfielder Nathan Corbett has helped the Scots to an excellent start to the season with a 9-2 record. Corbett has seen action in three games.
Illinois Institute of Technology: The Scarlet Hawks have started the season with an 5-3-2 record. Sophomore Brennan Paradiso has seen action in nine games and started in the recent 1-0 loss to Concordia Chicago.
St. Mary’s University: The Cardinals have had a solid season so far with a record of 5-5. Senior Augie Deavers has seen action in two games thus far.
Hamline College: The Pipers have started the season in superb fashion, posting a 10-2 record. Senior Cole Brennan has had a solid start seeing action in all 12 games, starting in the recent 3-0 win over Minnesota Morris.
Loras College: The Duhawks have made a solid start to the season with a 4-3-5 record. Sophomore goalkeeper Kyle Gillingham has seen action in four games, starting in the recent 2-2 tie with Carroll University.
Coe College: The Kohawks have posted a 4-5-1 record so far this season. Sophomore Isaiah Jackel has seen action in all 10 games and has started the last three games, helping the team to their recent 2-0 win over Cornell College.
University of Wisconsin - Stout: It’s been a tough season for the Blue Devils, who sit with a 2-9 record. However, freshman Alex Thayer is having an excellent season, starting in 10 games and adding three assists to his name. Thayer picked up two assists in the team’s loss to St. Mary’s University.
Elmhurst College: The Bluejays have had a solid start to the season with a 5-4-2 record. Sophomore Isaac Puchalla has seen action in three games so far.
Rockford University: It has been a difficult season for the Regents, who are 1-9 on the season. Sophomore Sam Frisch has started six games on the year and played the full 90 minutes in the team’s 3-0 win over Concordia Chicago.
Evangel University: The Valors have started the season with an excellent 7-1-1 record. Sophomore Christian Selner coming off a strong freshman campaign. He has seen action in all nine games, starting four.
Marian University: The Cardinals have had a tough start to season with a 1-7-3 record. Sophomore Connor Sanderfoot though, has had an excellent start to the season leading the team in goals, assists, and points for the season. Sanderfoot has six points to his name after scoring two goals and adding an assist in their loss to MSOE. Fellow sophomore Brendan Wagner has seen action in two games on the season.
Lakeland University: Although the Muskies are having a tough season with a 2-8 record, FC Wisconsin North alum, freshman Max Mirhashemi, has made an excellent start to his collegiate career. Mirhashemi has started all ten games and leads the team in goals with three on the year. Fellow FC North freshman, Aldo Rangel, has also started well, starting in the last eight games.
NAIA:
Briar Cliff University: Former FC Wisconsin coach Teren Schuster has the Chargers sitting with a 3-7-2 overall record, but a strong 2-1-1 record in conference play. Freshman Angjelos Arapi made his collegiate debut in the 3-1 win over Friends University.
NJCAA:
Bryant & Stratton Community College: It’s been an encouraging start to the season for the Bobcats, who sit 4-4-3 on the year. Sophomore goalkeeper Fernando Calzada has started in eight games. Freshman Muhsin Yusuf has seen action in six games, scoring his first collegiate goal in the 3-2 loss to Rock Valley College.
Madison College: Second year head coach Logan Fye has had a strong start to the 2024 season, with the Wolfpack sitting with a 5-2-2 record. Sophomore Damo Lovell has started all nine games and freshman Jalen Thao has seen action in nine games, adding one assist on the year.
