ABOUT OUR FC WISCONSIN WEST
FC Wisconsin is excited to announce a groundbreaking new player development pathway to provide more opportunities and resources for young players in the West region and surrounding area. The FC Wisconsin West Program will provide a long-term athlete development-focused environment to help players progress within the game. The FC Wisconsin West Program will be able to open new doors for young aspiring players, improve the daily environment for all players, and continue to raise the bar in developing players to reach their full potential. FC Wisconsin is Wisconsin’s only member of the Elite Clubs National League, the highest competitive and development platform for youth soccer players in the country. The club consistently places 90% of its graduating seniors in college soccer programs at schools throughout the country.
The FC Wisconsin West Program will be overseen by Director Dustin Lingle. He shares: “I am excited about being a part of FC Wisconsin West for several reasons. First and foremost, I have a passion for the sport and am eager to share that with others. I see the program as an opportunity to introduce soccer to a new generation of players and help them develop their skills and love for the game. Additionally, I am thrilled about the challenge of building a successful program from the ground up, from recruiting players to organizing practices and games. Finally, I am looking forward to the camaraderie and teamwork that come with being a part of this program, and the sense of pride that comes with representing FC Wisconsin on the field.”
All training's for the FC Wisconsin West Program will take place at Nagawaukee Park in Hartland to limit travel for families in the surrounding areas. The new platform will also provide additional optional training and development opportunities for players at FC Wisconsin’s main campus in Germantown. Coaches from both the West program and main campus will also collaborate on providing more opportunities for players to play across different rosters to help aid their true long-term development. The FC Wisconsin West program will provide players in the West a true development player pathway from U7-U19 under the FC Wisconsin curriculum. The program will enable players at the youngest ages to get elite training without needing to travel a significant distance while also feeling part of the FC Family.
FC Wisconsin Jr. Academy Director (and former Strike FC Jr. Academy Director) Kevin Martin will also help to oversee the West Program. He adds: “When I left the Lake Country Area last spring for a new opportunity, I told families that I had hoped we could work together again soon. That is a reality starting in the 2023-24 season. I have been so impressed with the FC Wisconsin families, coaching staff and support I have received since joining the FC Family. Building on the great relationships that are already established in the West region, I am so excited to help build that player pathway with an outstanding base of coaching staff. I have seen first-hand how dedicated FC Wisconsin is to true player development especially at the youngest ages. This program will make a massive difference to the development of players in the West region."
“As a club we have had so many players that have joined us from the West region and many have gone on to have great careers with us and are now fulfilling their dreams of playing college soccer. Creating an FC Wisconsin West will enable us to impact players in this region at the youngest ages which is crucial to a player’s development. Our collaborative coaching model, placing multiple coaches around all players and all teams, is definitely in the best interest of player development and is a key aspect that we will be looking to implement in our West program. The model allows coaches to pull players aside and give essential details and feedback in daily training sessions. Coaches going the extra mile, caring about each player’s development, and pushing players past their comfort zone is why this club continues to excel and grow. The FC Wisconsin West Program represents continued growth of the FC Family, and we couldn’t be more excited with the group coaches already on board. Together we will continue to change the culture, landscape, and player development model in the state for the positive,” notes Co-Director of Coaching Ben Shepherd.
