FC Wisconsin has been honored as one of the top 25 boys ECNL clubs in the country for the 2023 season. Out of the 148 Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) member clubs across the country, FC Wisconsin ranked 22nd in the nation, among the likes of the Houston Dynamo, North Carolina FC, and Dallas Texans.
This honor is awarded to the clubs that have earned the highest total points from regular-season conference games and performances at the ECNL National Playoffs and Finals. Being ranked within the top 25 clubs in the nation requires consistent excellence across all age groups (U13 - U19) throughout the season.
FC Wisconsin made club history this year by winning three Midwest Conference Championships and having five of its ECNL teams qualify for the ECNL National Playoffs in Greensboro, North Carolina. U16 ECNL standout Danny Astorga also became the latest FC Wisconsin player to become an ECNL All-American.
“We are extremely proud to get this recognition. It is a testament to all of our staff, players, and families that really buy in to our club, our environment, and how we try to push players to reach their potential. We are a small club competing in one of the best leagues in the country, against some massive clubs with huge resources. To be able to compete and excel at this level, against this type of competition, is a huge accomplishment, and we should never take that for granted,” said Co-Director of Coaching Ben Shepherd.
FC Wisconsin was the highest-ranked club from its ECNL Midwest Conference, which is a highly competitive conference. The likes of Eclipse Soccer Club and Chicago Magic have both won USYS and U.S. Club National Championships in recent years.
“We are super proud to be recognized as one of the top 25 clubs in the ECNL. A huge amount of work goes into this by so many people connected with the club. To be ranked alongside some of the best developmental clubs in the country such as San Diego Surf, Pipeline, and Louisville City is a huge accomplishment for FC Wisconsin. The amount of work that has to go into achieving this recognition cannot be underestimated, and as a club we must continually strive to improve,” said Co-Director of Coaching Billy Solberg.
