FC Wisconsin Adds Scott Asher to Coaching Staff

FC Wisconsin is excited to announce the newest coach to join the FC Family. Scott Asher will help with all teams aged U11-U19 within our current RCP Program and next year’s ECNL Regional League Program for the 2023-24 season.

“With the addition of the ECNL Regional League as an FC Wisconsin player pathway, it is important to continue to add quality coaches to our staff. Scott Asher has a great deal of energy and high-level experience of developing players, encouraging creativity, and pushing players out of their comfort zone to reach their potential. We couldn’t be more excited for Scott to join the our FC Family. We are beyond confident in the role and positivity he will add to our staff and programs,” said Co-Director of Coaching Billy Solberg.

Asher grew up in Nottingham, England, where he played semi-professionally while earning his degree from Newark & Sherwood University. He has more than 30 years of coaching experience, both in England and the United States. Asher has been involved in Wisconsin youth soccer since 2001. He has also been hugely successful as the Arrowhead Girls Varsity Coach for the past 13 years, where he has won two conference championships and been to three consecutive sectional finals. Asher has been in the field of youth education in a variety of roles including Program Director for the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee and Program Coordinator for the Boys and Girls Club of Milwaukee. Most recently, he held the role of Executive Director at Strike Soccer Club.

“The hiring of Scott Asher to help within our ECNL Regional League and RCP Program is a huge coup for the club! Over many years, Scott has shown himself to be a great developer of players, and is extremely well thought of within the Wisconsin soccer community. His positivity, enthusiasm, and drive to help players improve and enjoy the game will be a massive asset to our club. Scott has been hugely successful both in the club game, where he was the only coach at Strike FC to ever take a team to the State Cup Finals, and at the high school level, where he has won numerous state championships. As we continue to grow as a club, and continue to offer additional playing platforms and pathways, it is imperative that we continue to add quality coaches and more importantly good people to our coaching staff. We are excited to add Scott Asher to our staff and welcome him to the FC Family,” said Co-Director Ben Shepherd.

“FC Wisconsin isn’t only known as one of the top clubs in the state, it is recognized nationally as one of the preeminent clubs in player development. From the outside looking in, I always knew there was something different at FC Wisconsin. When I spoke to Ben and Billy, and a few former coaching colleagues who are now on staff, it became clearer as to what that was. From top to bottom, the organization is designed around a consistent, clear, player development pathway. Not only does their culture help them develop players, it helps to develop young people, which is so important,” shared Scott Asher.

“My passion for coaching comes from wanting to see players fulfill their potential and push them to play at the highest level, while enjoying the game and gaining the life skills it teaches. Joining FC Wisconsin's coaching staff is exciting. I am looking forward to becoming a part of the culture and instilling these values into our players. I can't wait to get to meet the families and start to build relationships. I hope my experiences can help the already successful program that FC Wisconsin has in place,” concludes Scott Asher.

We welcome Scott Asher to the coaching staff and our FC Family!
