FC Wisconsin Alumni Continuing to Make Big Impact as College Season Kicks-Off

Fall 2023 Alumni Update

FC Wisconsin continues to have more college alumni than any other club in the state of Wisconsin. With more than 80 alumni currently playing college soccer across the U.S. at every level, FC Wisconsin players are making a big imprint on the next stage of their careers.

With the college season now underway across all divisions, FC Wisconsin alumni are playing major roles in their team’s early season successes. More club alums are continuing to make their mark in Division I, II, III, and NJCAA competition across the country.

 

NCAA Division I:

· Davidson College: The Wildcats have had a great, unbeaten start to the season sitting at 2-0-1. Junior Vincent Bennage has continued his great form his sophomore earning the A10 Offensive Player of the Week with three goals so far on the season. The former ECNL All-American and Midwest Conference Player of the Year leads the team in scoring and points, and scored the goal in the recent 1-1 tie with ACC powerhouse Virginia Tech. Sophomore Denis Krioutchenkov, coming off the A10 All-Freshman Team of the Year Award, ranks second on the team in points with one goal and two assists so far this season. Fellow FC alum freshman Ben Lacocque has already made an impact for the Wildcats playing in two games and making his first collegiate start against Presbyterian College.

 

· Duke University: The #3 ranked Blue Devils have had a great start to the season remaining unbeaten with a 3-0-1 record. Junior Ruben Mesalles has started all four games and scored in the opening day 3-1 win over Jacksonville University. Mesalles backed it up with another assist in last weekend’s 6-0 win over Furman.

 

· University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee: The Panthers picked up their first win of the season this week with an excellent 3-0 win over Dayton on the road. FC alumni Quinn Rechner (a senior) and Colin Alba (a junior) both started in the recent win. Milwaukee now stands at 1-2 with Alba starting all three games and Rechner starting in two so far this season

 

· Drake University: It’s been a tough start to the season for the Bulldogs who sit 1-3 early on in the season. They did get their first win on the year this week with a 1-0 win over Western Illinois courtesy of red shirt senior Austin Holtebeck scoring the game winner from a corner kick. Junior Erich Legut, coming off an injury, got his first points for the year with an assist in the recent 4-3 loss to Kansas City. Fellow FC alum Evan Carlson (a junior) has seen action in all four games, making three starts. Coming off a strong freshman year, Timmy Browning has also seen action in two games, making one start on the year.

 

· Bradley University: The Braves have had an unbeaten start to the season standing at 3-0-1. Junior goalkeeper Alex Grow has started two games and kept his first clean on the year in the recent 1-0 win over DePaul University.

 

· University of Wisconsin Green Bay: The Phoenix have made a strong start to the season with a 2-1-1 record. Freshman Oscar Arroyo made his collegiate debut in the recent 7-0 win over Southern Indiana University.

 

· St. Bonaventure University: The Bonnies have had a solid start to the season sitting 1-2-1. Sophomore Will O’Connor, coming off a successful USL Two summer season with the RKC Soccer Club, has seen action in one game so far this year.

 

· Western Illinois University: Freshman Daniel Chiappetta has made a good start to his collegiate career, already seeing action in two games this season. Chiappetta made his collegiate debut in the 1-0 loss to Green Bay.

 

· DePaul University: The Blue Demons have started the season with a 1-2-1 record. This week they had a hard fought 1-1 tie with local rival Northwestern University. Junior Santi Davila, coming off an excellent spring season, saw action in both pre-season scrimmages.

 

NCAA Division II:

· University of Wisconsin – Parkside: Coming off an excellent 2022 year where the Rangers went to the NCAA National Tournament, Parkside has had another strong start to the season. The Rangers already sit at 2-0 and ranked #6 in the nation. Junior Chris Estrada, who has battled injury the last two years, has seen action in both games starting in the recent 2-1 win over local rival Lewis University. Fellow FC alums Valentin Sandoval and Erick Villalobos (both sophomores) have both seen action in one game so far this season.

 

· Northern Michigan University: The Wildcats have started the season well, sitting at 1-1. After an impressive sophomore year, junior Logan Lazar saw action in the recent 1-0 win over Quincy.

 

NCAA Division III:

· University of Wisconsin Whitewater: The Warhawks, with the help of five FC alumni, have had a great start to the season, sitting at 3-0. Sophomore Aiden Glancey got his first assist of the season in the recent 3-0 win over local rival Wisconsin Lutheran. Junior Fionnbharr Hartnett has started all three games, also adding an assist to his name. Fellow Junior Payton Nicholls has started two games on the season, and sophomore Zeke Healey has seen action in two games. Freshman Max O’Schasky made his collegiate debut in the 2-0 win over Rockford University.

 

· St. Norbert College: The Green Knights are currently 0-2-1 with three FC alumni currently contributing to their season. Junior Stjepan Peharda has started all three games, notching his first goal on the season in the opening day loss over Calvin University. Fellow sophomores Dom Lagona and Payton Schliz have also started the opening three games of the season.

 

· Concordia University - Wisconsin: The Falcons have opened the season with a 1-1 record. Cardinal Stritch transfer Alishan Sharipov (a junior) has started both games; scoring two goals in the opening day win over Lawrence University.

 

· Wisconsin Lutheran College: Coming off an excellent 2022 season, the Warriors have had a tough start to the season with a 0-1-2 record. Sophomore Jack Leffel is carrying on from his stellar freshman season by starting all three games, leading the team in overall minutes played, and earning Man of the Match honors for his defensive play. Freshman Ethan Sprengel has seen action in two games for the Warriors. Unfortunately, senior Tim Gillingham suffered a season-ending knee injury during a pre-season match. FC North alum Brock Vaughn, a sophomore who played in six games for WLC in 2022, has yet to see action this season.

 

· Carroll University: The Pioneers have had a solid 2-1 start on the season. Senior Sam Dorchester has seen action in all three games. Freshman Henry Picard made his collegiate debut in the 2-0 win over Illinois Tech University. Fellow FC alumni, freshmen Hayden Stringer and Brennan Paradiso saw action in the game for ITU.

 

· Macalester College: Junior midfielder Nathan Corbett has helped the Scots to an undefeated start to the season with a 2-0-1 record. Corbett has seen action in all three games and tallied his first collegiate goal in the 3-0 win over Carthage.

 

· Ripon College: The Red Hawks are undefeated so far this season, talling ties in their opening two games. Senior Eli Dietzel, coming off an excellent junior year, scored his first goal of the season in the 1-1 tie with Wisconsin Lutheran. Fellow senior and FC North alum Timothy Geocaris has started in both games, and his younger brother Thomas Geocaris (a freshman) has seen action in both games. Fellow freshmen Connor Handrick and Hashim Khan have seen action one game.

 

· North Central College: The nationally-ranked Cardinals are having another excellent start to the season, sitting on a 3-0 record. Senior goalkeeper and 2021 All-American Sid Marquardt is still recovering from injury and expected to be back in action soon.

 

· University of Wisconsin Superior: Junior Alex Paredes, who had an excellent 2022 season, is again the starting goalkeeper for the Yellow Jackets. Paredes has started both games and the team has a 0-1-1 record.

 

· University of Dubuque: Senior Aaron Weiss has helped Dubuque to a 1-2 record. Weiss has started all three games. Fellow FC alum, sophomore goalkeeper Micah Falk, who made his collegiate debut last year in the win over Monmouth, has yet to see action this season.

 

· University of Wisconsin Eau Claire: Junior Sam Hummel has helped Eau Claire to an unbeaten 1-0-2 start to the season. Hummel has seen action in both games and started the recent 0-0 tie with nationally-ranked Macalester University.

 

· Milwaukee School of Engineering: The Raiders have started the season with a 1-1-1 record. Sophomore Daniel Aranda has started the opening three games, picking up an assist in the 2-2 tie with University of Wisconsin - Platteville. Fellow sophomore and FC North alum Trey Mass has seen action in two games on the season.

 

· Illinois Institute of Technology: The Scarlet Hawks have started the season with an 0-1-2 record. Freshman Brennan Paradiso has seen action in all three games and started in the recent 2-0 loss to Carroll University that saw four FC alums in action. Fellow freshman Hayden Stringer also saw action versus Carroll.

 

· St. Mary’s University: The Cardinals have had a solid season so far with a record of 2-1-1. Junior Augie Deavers has seen action in two games on the season.

 

· Hamline College: The Pipers have started with a 2-0 record. Senior Cole Brennan has had a solid start seeing action in both games, starting in the recent 3-2 win over Minnesota Morris.

 

· University of Chicago: Coming off a National Championship in 2022, Chicago enters the season as the #1 ranked team in the nation. They have started their 2023 campaign undefeated, going 1-0-1. Vanni Olla enters his senior year looking to lead the Maroons to back-to-back titles.

 

· Loras College: The Duhawks have made a great start to the season with a perfect 3-0 record. Freshman goalkeeper Kyle Gillingham made his collegiate debut in the recent 4-0 win over Northland College.

 

· Evangel University: The Valors have started the season with a perfect 3-0 record. Freshman Christian Selner has made an excellent start to his college career, starting in two games and seeing action in all three.

 

· Marian University: The Sabres have had a solid 1-1 start on the season. Senior Zach Paxton has started both games, tallying two shots in the 2-1 win over St. Mary’s University.

 

 

NJCAA:

· Bryant & Stratton College: It’s been a tough start to the season for the Bobcats who sit 1-2-3 on the year. Freshman goalkeeper Fernando Calzada has started all six games. Edward Zozulya (a sophomore) has seen action in four games.

 

· Madison College: First year Head Coach Logan Fye has had a strong start to the 2023 season. The Wolfpack currently sit with a 2-1 record. Freshman Damo Lovell has started all three games, notching an assist in the recent 2-1 win over Rock Valley College.
