Weekly Summaries

Week 8

And the champion is...Real Madrid. After eight weeks of action the winner of it all was decided. Real Madrid's chances of championship glory were never in doubt. After an amazing upset last week, Chelsea just couldn't bring the same kind of energy and perfectiion two weeks in a row, thus earning the second place spot in the league. In the first game of the night AC Milan dominated Marseilles. After their shocking loss last week, AC Milan took out their frustration on an unsuspecting Marseilles team. AC Milan, who ended up with seven wins and only one loss, takes third. Marseilles ends up in the fourth and final spot. Week 8's outstanding offensive play came from Gage Sparks, Antonio DeCastro, Trevor Nargis, Luis Gonzales, Alec Stuckert, and Sean Garwood. Great defensive play from Ryan Berger, Noah Stovich, Niklas Martensson, and the team defense of Real Madrid. Game 1 Man of the Match - Sean Garwood. Game 2 Men of the Match - Ryan Berger and Gage Sparks.

Week 7

DOUBLE UPSET ALERT! Week 7, also the first week of the playoffs, will be remembered as the biggest upset week in Champions League history. The first match of the night was between the undefeated, at 6 - 0, AC Milan and the winless, 0 - 6, Chelsea. Many analysts were predicting a possible upset victory for Chelsea who only lost to AC Milan by one goal back in week 4. Chelsea was strong and determined from the start and by half time they were up 5 - 3. You could sense the tension in the air on the AC Milan bench. Chelsea began the second half by scoring a few more goals very quickly. However, AC Milan never gave up and even came storming back late with the help of the late arriving Mike Weiss. In the end Chelsea's will to win was just too strong and they acheived the victory over an absolutely stunned AC Milan squad. The game was definitely the most competetive and well played of the season. In the second game Marseilles, the number 2 seeded team, didn't begin the game well and it carried through until the end. Marseilles couldn't capitalize on their chances and failed to defend as a team. Their opponent, the number 3 seeded Real Madrid, took advantage of every opportunity given to them by scoring on the majority of their chances. The counter attacking Real Madrid seemed to score at will against a reeling Marseilles squad and in the end had the best all around team win of the season. Week 7's outstanding offensive play came from Christian Tyrpak, Ivan Khamenka, Sean Garwood, Luke McVeigh, Nate Estrada-Campos, Antonio DeCastro, and Mike Weiss. Great defensive play from Ben Elhert, Ryan Berger, and the team defense of Real Madrid. Game 1 Men of the Match - Ivan Khamenka, Will Hamilton, and Christian Tyrpak. Game 2 Men of the Match - Nate Estrada-Campos and Antonio DeCastro.

Week 6

Real Madrid earned their second victory of the season with the help of Alec Stuckert and Mitchel Hummel on loan from AC Milan. Even though Chelsea ended the regualr season winless many analysts predict a possible upset victory for them in the playoffs. The first round of playoffs will match #1 seed AC Milan against #4 seed Chelsea. And in the second game #2 seed Marseilles will take on #3 seed Real Madrid. Week 6's outstanding offensive play came from Bobby Gaertig, Alec Stuckert, Mitchel Hummel, DJ Dickson, Mike Weiss, and Trey Goodnetter. Week 5

BREAKING TRANSFER NEWS!!! On the heals of Real Madrid's fifth loss, the powers that be decided that a change was necessary. Alec Stuckert and Mitchel Hummel will join Real Madrid and AC Milan will welcome Alec Czaplicki and Charlie Lewis in week 6. Can Stuckert and Hummel help Real earn their first victory? The deal contains a clause that if AC Milan plays in the Championship match, AC Milan has the right to use Stuckert and Hummel on loan. The second match of the night was close to the very last second. Chelsea came strong out of the gate and was quickly up by 3 goals. Marseilles fought their way back and tied the score at 5-5 at half. Led by the offensive firepower of Matt Ammel in the second half, Marseilles held on and was victorious in the end. Outstanding offensive play this week from Alec Stuckert, Mike Weiss, Mitchell Hummel, Christian Tyrpak, Matt Ammel, and Luis Gonzales. Great defensive play from Alex Hoftstetter, DJ Dickson, Joey VerHaagh, Noah Stovich, and the combined play of AC Milan in the second half.

Week 4

The fourth week of Champions League saw the first two rematches of the session. The results of the two matches ended up the same as week 1, but the games themselves were very different. The first match of AC Milan vs. Chelsea came down to the very last minutes to decide a winner. The play was aggressive, fast paced, and high scoring on both sides. AC Milan managed to hang on and remain unbeaten, but it took all they had to secure the victory. The match-up of Real Madrid and Marseilles began with a lot of indivdual efforts, but lacked team chemistry on both sides. The second half was much more cohesive nd the quality of play improved tremendously non both sides. Marsilles' six second half goals proved too much for Real Madrid. Outstanding offensive play this week from Ivan Khamenka, Will Hamilton, DJ Dickson, Trey Goodnetter, and Antonio DeCastro. Great overall defensive play from Henry Hill-Gorman, Tyler Harmson, Tony Silva, Matt Ammel, and the combined play of Marseilles in the second half.

Week 3

This week began with the showdown of the two unbeaten teams, AC Milan and Marseilles. It was a closely contested game and at the half the score was almost even. However, AC Milan dominated the second half and consistently pulled away until the very end. The second match pitted the two winless teams, Chelsea and Real Madrid, against each other. Both teams showed a lot of improvement over their previous week's performance. In the end Real Madrid proved to be too much and earned their first victory of the season. Outstanding offensive play this week from Luis Gonzales, Mike Weiss, Trey Goodnetter, Christian Tyrpak, Luke McVeigh, and Antonio DeCastro. Great overall defensive play from Niklas Martensson, Noah Stovich, and the second half of AC Milan.

Week 2

Chelsea met Marseilles and Real Madrid faced off against AC Milan in the second week of Champions League. Chelsea vs. Marseilles proved to be a hard fought, even battle to the very end. AC Milan took control of the second match against Real Madrid very early on and never relinguished their dominance. Marseilles and AC Milan remain unbeaten while Chelsea and Real Madrid will look for their first win in a match-up next week. Outstanding offensive play from Ivan Khamenka, Carlos Ossa Velandia, Ben Piascik, Mike Weiss, Trey Goodnetter, Luke McVeigh, and Antonio DeCastro. Great overall defensive play from AC Milan, Paul Koebke Barsic, and Noah Stovich.
