Bennage And Krioutchenkov Lead The Way As FC Wisconsin Alums Continue To Make Big Impact Throughout The College Season

FC Wisconsin continues to have more alumni playing soccer a the next level than any other club in the state of Wisconsin. With more than 80 current alums playing college soccer, FC Wisconsin players are making a big imprint in the next stage of their careers.

With the college season heading into the business end of the year, FC Wisconsin alumni are playing major roles in their team's season successes. FC Wisconsin alumni are continuing to make their mark in Division I, II, III and NAIA competition across the country.

 

NCAA DIVISION I:

Davidson College: The Wildcats have had a great start to the season sitting at 8-2-1. Junior Vincent Bennage has continued his great form, from his sophomore earning an A10 Offensive Player of the Week honor earlier in the season. Bennage leads the team in goals and assists with five a-piece for 15 points on the year. The former ECNL All-American and Midwest Conference Player of the Year, had a career high one goal and two assists in the recent 3-1 over Furman University. Sophomore Denis Krioutchenkov, coming off the A10 All-Freshman Team of the Year Award, ranks second on the team in points with five goals and two assists so far on the season for 12 points. Krioutchenov got the game winner in the recent 1-0 road win over VCU, which places them jointly in first place within the A10 Conference. Fellow FC alum, freshman Ben Lacocque has already made an impact for the Wildcats, playing in 10 games and making his first collegiate start against Presbyterian College.

 

Duke University: The Blue Devils have had a great start to the season posting a 6-3-1 record and currently ranked 14th in the nation. Junior Ruben Mesalles has started all 10 games and scored in the opening day 3-1 win over Jacksonville University. Mesalles backed this up with a goal in the recent 5-3 win over seventh-ranked and ACC rival Syracuse University.

 

University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee: It’s been an up and down year so far for the Panthers, who sit at 4-6-1 for the season. FC alums Quinn Rechner (senior) and Colin Alba (junior) both started in the recent 1-0 win over Horizon League Rival Detroit University. Both Alba and Rechner have started in all 11 games for the Panthers.

 

Drake University: It’s been a tough season so far for the Bulldogs who sit 2-6-2 on the year. Their first win on the season came courtesy of red shirt senior Austin Holtebeck scoring the game winner from a corner kick vs Western Illinois. Junior Erich Legut, who is coming off an injury, got his first points for the year with an assist in the recent 4-3 loss to Kansas City. Fellow FC alum Evan Carlson (junior) recorded his first career goal in the 2-2 tie with Omaha University. Coming off a strong freshman year, Timmy Browning has also seen action in five games, making one start on the year, and red shirt sophomore Noah Corrigan made his first collegiate appearance in the recent loss at UIC.

 

Bradley University: The Braves have had a solid start to the season standing at 4-3-5. Junior goalkeeper Alex Grow has started six games and kept his first clean sheet on the year in the 1-0 win over DePaul. Grow also started in the recent 1-1 tie with Wisconsin making five saves on the night.

 

Wright State University: The Raiders have had a solid season to date with a 3-4-4 record. Sophomore transfer Alessandro Malterer has now become the starting goalkeeper, getting the nod in the last nine games. Malterer has only conceded seven goals with a 0.91 GAA, making 32 saves on the year. Malterer has kept clean sheets against both home state schools Milwaukee and Green Bay.

 

University of Wisconsin - Green Bay: The Phoenix have made a solid start to the season with a 3-4-3 record. Freshman Oscar Arroyo made his collegiate debut in the recent 7-0 win over Southern Indiana University.

 

St. Bonaventure University: The Bonnies have had a solid start to the season sitting 4-5-3. Sophomore Will O’Connor, coming off a successful USL Two Summer Season with the RKC Soccer Club, has seen action in two games on the year. O’Connor made his season debut in the recent 1-1 tie with Robert Morris.

 

Western Illinois University: Although it has been a tough season for the Leathernecks, sitting at 2-8-1, freshman Daniel Chiappetta has made a good start to his collegiate career. Chiappetta has seen action in six games and made his first collegiate start in the recent 2-1 loss to Northern Kentucky.

 

DePaul University: The Blue Demons have had a tough start to the season with a 2-7-2 record. Junior Santi Davila, coming off an excellent spring season, has yet to see action on the year.

 

NCAA DIVISION II:

University of Wisconsin – Parkside: Coming off an excellent 2022 year where the Rangers went to the NCAA National Tournament, Parkside has had another strong start to the season. The Rangers already sit 7-2-2 and are ranked sixth in the nation. Junior Chris Estrada, who has battled injury the last two years, has started all 11 games and has two goals and two assists on the year. Estrada scored the game winner in the recent 2-1 win over Davenport University. Fellow FC slums Valentin Sandoval (sophomore) has seen action in six games and record a career high four shots on goal in the recent 2-1 loss to St. Cloud University. Erick Villalobos (sophomore) has seen action in one game so far this season due to injury.

 

Northern Michigan University: The Wildcats have have a tough season so far with a 2-8-2 record. After an impressive sophomore year Logan Lazar (junior) has seen action in eight games on the year. Lazar started in the recent 0-0 tie with Purdue Northwest.

 

NCAA DIVISION III:

University of Wisconsin - Whitewater: The Warhawks, with the help of five FC alumni, are having a great season sitting at 11-1-4. Sophomore Aiden Glancey has seen action in all 15 games and has one goal and one assist to his name. Junior Fionnbharr Hartnett has started all 15 games, adding an assist to his name against Rockford earlier in the season. Fellow junior Payton Nicholls has started 14 games on the season and has two goals and two assists on the season. Nicholls added a goal and assist in the recent 3-3 tie with Loras University. Sophomore Zeke Healey has seen action in 14 games, starting eight games. Freshman Max O’Schasky has seen action in 10 games and scored his first career goal in the 3-1 over Westminster University.

 

St. Norbert College: The Green Knights are currently 6-4-2 with three FC alumni currently contributing to their season. Stjepan Peharda (junior) has started three games and played in all 10, notching his first goal on the season in the opening day loss over Calvin University. Sophomore Dom Lagona has started all 10 games for the Green Knights and scored a goal versus Lakeland and had an assist against Carroll. Payton Schliz (sophomore) got the start in one game and has played all 10.

 

Concordia University - Wisconsin: The Falcons have had a tough season so far with a 4-7-1 record. Cardinal Stritch transfer Alishan Sharipov (junior) has been the standout player for the Falcons, leading the team in goals and points. Sharipov has six goals and three assists to his name for 15 points on the season. Sharipov had two goals and the game winner in the recent 3-2 win over Rockford University.

 

Wisconsin Lutheran College: Coming off an great 2022 season, the Warriors are having another solid season with a 7-3-2 record. Sophomore Jack Leffel is carrying on from his excellent freshman season by starting all 12 games and leading the team in overall minutes played. The defender scored his first goal of the season in last weekend’s 2-1 win over Benedictine. Freshman Ethan Sprengel has seen action in eight games for the Warriors.

 

Carroll University: The Pioneers have had a solid 5-6-1 start on the season. Senior Sam Dorchester has seen action in all 12 games. Freshman Henry Picard has seen action in three games on the year and made his collegiate debut in the 2-0 win over Illinois Tech University. Fellow FC alum and freshmen Hayden Stringer and Brennan Paradiso also saw action in the game against ITU.

 

Macalester College: Junior midfielder Nathan Corbett has helped the Scots to an excellent start to the season with a 7-1-4 record. Corbett has seen action in all 10 games and tallied his first collegiate goal in the 3-0 win over Carthage earlier in the season.

 

Ripon College: The Red Hawks have had a solid season so far with a 3-3-5 record, helped by seven FC Wisconsin alumni. Senior Eli Dietzel, coming off an excellent junior year, scored his first goal of the season in the 1-1 tie with Wisconsin Lutheran. Dietzel has two goals and three assists on the season so far. Fellow senior and FC North alum Timothy Geocaris has started all 11 games and scored the game winner in the recent 2-0 win over Lakeland College. Younger brother Thomas Geocaris (freshman) has seen action in 11 games. Freshmen Connor Handrick has seen action in four games and Drew Seyfer has now made three appearances in goal for the Red Hawks, making his first collegiate start against Coe College. Eric Staszak (freshman) has also seen action in four games on the year and Hashim Khan (freshman) has made one appearance this season.

 

North Central College: The nationally-ranked Cardinals are having another excellent start to the season sitting with a 11-1-1 record. After battling back from injury, senior goalkeeper and 2021 All-American Sid Marquardt made his first appearance on the season in the 7-2 win over Carthage College.

 

University of Wisconsin - Superior: Junior goalkeeper Alex Paredes, who had an excellent 2022 season, is again the starting keeper for the Yellow Jackets who have had an excellent start with a 9-2-2 record. Paredes has started 12 games and only conceded seven goals on the year with a 0.62 GAA. Paredes kept another clean sheet in the recent 6-0 win over Minnesota Morris College.

 

University of Dubuque: Senior Aaron Weiss has helped Dubuque to a 4-8-1 record and a 2-2 record in conference. Weiss has started 12 games on the year. Fellow FC alum and sophomore goalkeeper Micah Falk, who made his collegiate debut last year in the win over Monmouth, has yet to see action this season.

 

University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire: Junior Sam Hummel has helped Eau Claire to a 9-3-2 start to the season. Hummel has seen action in all 10 games, and started the recent 0-0 tie with the Nationally ranked Macalester University.

 

Milwaukee School of Engineering: The Raiders have started the season with an excellent 11-1-1 record. Sophomore Daniel Aranda has started all 13 games, picking up an assist in the 2-2 tie with University of Wisconsin - Platteville. Fellow sophomore Trey Mass has seen action in seven games, scoring his first goal of the season in the recent win over Concordia Chicago University.

 

Illinois Institute of Technology: The Scarlet Hawks have started the season with an 4-5-6 record. Freshman Brennan Paradiso has seen action in 14 games and started in the recent 2-0 loss to Carroll University that saw four FC alumni in action. Fellow freshman Hayden Stringer also saw action versus Carroll and has played in four games.

 

St. Mary’s University: The Cardinals have had a strong season so far with a record of 6-3-3. Junior Augie Deavers has seen action in two games on the season.

 

Hamline College: The Pipers have started with a 5-3-2 record. Senior Cole Brennan has had a solid start, seeing action in all 10 games, starting in the recent 3-2 win over Minnesota Morris.

 

University of Chicago: Coming off a national championship in 2022, Chicago entered the season as the top ranked team in the nation. They have started their 2023 campaign strongly with a 6-2-3 record. Vanni Olla, in his senior year, made his debut on the season in the 4-1 win over Wheaton College.

 

Loras College: The Duhawks have made a great start to the season with an 8-2-4 record. Freshman goalkeeper Kyle Gillingham made his collegiate debut in the recent 4-0 win over Northland College.

 

Evangel University: The Valors have started the season with a 5-2-4 record. Freshman Christian Selner has made an excellent start to his college career, starting in two games seeing action in seven.

 

Marian University: The Cardinals have had a tough start to season with a 3-7-1 record. Senior Zach Paxton has seen action in eight games and scored his first goal on the season in the 3-1 loss to Dominican University.

 

 

NJCAA:

Bryant & Stratton Community College: It’s been a tough start to the season for the Bobcats who sit 4-7-3 on the year. Freshman goalkeeper Fernando Calzada has started in six games. Edward Zozulya (sophomore) has seen action in nine games. Jakob Hilger (sophomore) has battled back from injury and has started the last five games.

 

Madison College: First year Head Coach Logan Fye has had a solid start to the 2023 season with the Wolfpack sitting with a 4-4-4 record. Freshman Damo Lovell has started all 12 games notching his first assist in the 1-1 tie with MATC.
