The Trend Continues: Three More FC Wisconsin Players Selected to the Next Elite id2 Camp

For Immediate Release:

FC Wisconsin players Jack Leffel, Caleb Breckenfelder and Ben Lacocque have all been selected to participate in U.S Club Soccer’s Elite id2 fall camp in Lancaster, Massachusetts.  Overall in the past 3 years, FC Wisconsin has now had seven players selected into the prestigious camp, with one, Santi Davila making the International id2 team.  This highlights the clubs continued commitment to long-term player development.

“I am excited that I was chosen to id2 camp later this month.  I’m looking forward to learning from new coaches and seeing what players are like from around the country.  I know I will be out of my comfort zone, but I see it as a way to improve, challenge myself and have fun." -- said Lacocque.

The camp is set up as a National Identification and Development Program that provides an opportunity for the country’s top players to come together in a camp to be identified and developed in an elite training camp.  Throughout the camp the players will be coached, scouted and evaluated for the possible inclusion in U.S. Soccer’s National Team Program.

"We are thrilled for these boys being selected.  It’s such an honor for our players and club to continue to be recognized as a the premier player development club and it is just highlighted by the selection of these three players this fall.” -- said Co-DOC Billy Solberg

This Elite camp provides players the opportunity to be coached and seen by US Soccer National team staff who are on site.  Players are rated, evaluated and then invited to the program based up on a combination of: (i) objective and independent scouting information; and (ii) information from the players’ regular trainers and coaches.

Once at camp, all expenses are paid for, including lodging, transportation, meals, training and game gear, and coaching.  The boys will be at camp from September 28th thru October 1st.

“I am extremely honored to receive this nomination and invitation from such an elite camp.  This has been a goal of mine for a long time and I look forward to representing the FC Family.” -- said Caleb Breckenfelder on his first selection to an id2 camp.

Throughout the course of the camp, players will participate in training, and games and have guest lectures.

“Thank you to the FC Wisconsin players that have participated in the id2 Program before me. The way they represented our club made it possible for me to be invited this year. We are blessed to be a part of a club with incredible coaches that prepare players for amazing opportunities like this one." -- shared Jack Leffel.

“We are a club that prides itself on investing time and resources into true long-term player development. Helping all of our players reach their individual goals, whether it is to play collegiately, earn an id2 selection or national team call up is how we judge our success as a club.  We are constantly looking for ways to improve our players within the Collaborative coaching model and looking for ways to help them improve their game and take it to the next level.  These selections are quite the honor and as a club we will continue to try and provide players in Wisconsin the opportunities to develop and be seen at the highest levels possible." -- said Co-DOC Ben Shepherd.
