Teren Schuster Promoted to Full-time Coaching Position

FC Wisconsin is excited to announce that Teren Schuster is now a full-time staff member within the club. Schuster, who has been coaching with the club for the past two years, will primarily work with the Regional Competitive Program (RCP) teams of all ages.

Schuster is a native of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and played his youth career for Dakota Alliance Soccer Club. During his time at Dakota Alliance, his team won eight straight state championships which he captained during six of those years. He also had a successful high school career for Lincoln High School in Sioux Falls. Schuster won three state high school championships, captained the team for two of those years, and was named the “Soccer 605” 2014 State Player of the Year.

Schuster recently finished his playing career at Cardinal Stritch University where he was a vital part of the Wolves' best season in program history. During his college career, the team won two regular season conference titles, two conference tournament titles, and made an Elite Eight NAIA National Tournament appearance. As a senior, Schuster had his best individual season. He recorded 18 goals and five assists in 23 games in 2018. He also won multiple individual awards during his playing time at Stritch including All-Academic Team, First Team All-Conference, NAIA All-American Honorable Mention, NAIA National Tournament Team, and NAIA National Tournament Most Valuable Offensive Player.

Co-Director of Coaching Ben Shepherd shared, “We are thrilled to be able to offer Teren Schuster the opportunity to join the staff full-time. He has been with the club for the past two years and has shown himself to be one of the best up-and-coming coaches in the Midwest. In the past year, we have added two new full-time staff members in Schuster and Neil Tolson. These additions continue to highlight the forward progression of FC Wisconsin and our commitment to providing players with the best collaborative coaching environment possible.”

“I am extremely excited to continue to work at FC Wisconsin in my new role. I have had the pleasure of working within the organization for a few years, and have learned so much from both Ben Shepherd and Billy Solberg, and all the coaches within the club. Playing my youth soccer at a location where soccer opportunities were limited, I only wish I would have had the opportunity to be a part of a club like FCW. The culture and learning environment that focuses on long-term player development is unmatched, which shows by how many players go on to play at a higher level. FC Wisconsin is a club that leads the way for player development and I am very excited to now be a part of the staff full-time,” said Teren Schuster.

Co-Director of Coaching Billy Solberg added, “The full-time hiring of Schuster continues to show how far our club has come, and our continued commitment to placing multiple coaches around every player within all our programs. As a club, we are continually striving to improve and add quality, young, vibrant coaches to our already elite staff. This hire highlights our continued commitment to true long-term player development for all players under the FC Wisconsin curriculum."
