FC Wisconsin is thrilled to announce the hiring of Ryan Otten to its coaching staff. Ryan will join the club with immediate effect, having been hired on a full-time basis as Youth Director. He has helped oversee all aspects of the club and assisted with all programs. Prior to his time at Sporting, Otten was also the Director of Coaching at Ohio Extreme Soccer Club.

Otten who is a native of Wisconsin, formerly coached within the Wisconsin soccer community at Elm Grove Soccer Club, Catholic Memorial High School, as well as being the Assistant Coach for both the men’s and women’s teams at Cardinal Stritch University.

“To hire another full-time coach of the caliber of Ryan Otten to our staff highlights our continued commitment to the growth and overall long-term player development of the club. Ryan has taken it upon himself to enhance his coaching career by leaving the state to coach at two high level clubs in leadership roles, which has only helped his coaching development. Having coached recently in Ohio and Missouri, two extremely strong soccer states, we are excited by the knowledge and experiences that he will be able to add to our excellent coaching staff. His energy, intensity, and passion for coaching is something that our younger players will hugely benefit from,” said Co-Director of Coaching Ben Shepherd.

Having been in a director roles in his last two coaching positions, Otten will bring a wealth of experience and leadership to the FC Coaching staff. He currently holds a USSF B license and a NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma.

“I’m extremely excited to be a part of the FC Wisconsin family. The club has shown an unrivaled commitment to player and soccer development, and I wanted to be a part of this nationally recognized program. Having previously coached at different clubs in Wisconsin, I have seen firsthand how they do things and it has always been something that I have admired and wanted to be a part of. In addition to the soccer on the field, the club has shown they develop players who are well-rounded individuals off the field. These young men not only are successful on the field, but also positively impact their communities now and in the future. This is a true family club, and I am delighted to become a part of the FC Family,” said Coach Ryan Otten.

“I am beyond thrilled by this hire! Having coached Ryan many years ago, I know he was an amazing student of the game. As a player, he was always thirsty for more knowledge on how, why, and when to execute. He was one of the hardest working and intense players on the field. His roles as a youth director and coach are no different. He is always pushing players past their comfort zone, similarly to our overall philosophy, and then continuing to build players up by catching them executing and praising them verbally, with a high five or a thumbs up. This is a great hire and addition to our excellent coaching staff! Welcome to the FC Family, Ryan,” added Billy Solberg, Co-Director of Coaching.
