Perez Returns to FC Wisconsin

After captaining FC Wisconsin to the only boys National Championship in the history of the state, FC Wisconsin is excited to announce Simar Perez is returning home to join the coaching staff. Simar played with FC Wisconsin beginning in his U14 season and brought talent, knowledge, and leadership not only to the field, but to the entire club. Simar scored the first goal in the National Championship game against NYCFC.

Simar started his college career at Wright State before transferring to Drake University where he most recently graduated in 2021. “Simar is one of the best players to ever come through the club. Such a smart, sharp technical player, and leader. He could wiggle out and away from multiple defenders and play the killer ball nearly every time. He was confident and a difference maker. We can’t wait for him to bring his knowledge, passion, and ability to demonstrate and teach back to the FC Family and its players,” said Co-Director of Coaching Billy Solberg.

Simar will take over for Eric Wilde who has recently been hired by the professional club Tampa Bay Rowdies.  Simar will work closely with Neil Tolson to continue to build and develop our RCP players, he will help out with our ECNL teams and make sure he sees and helps our younger Jr. Academy as well.

“It feels good to be back. FC Wisconsin has always been a second home for me. It’s a club that I have been a part of all my youth soccer career. FC has given me every opportunity possible as a kid to play Division 1 soccer, which was always a dream of mine growing up. The culture FC has set up through its atmosphere and playing style gives all their athletes an opportunity to play at the next level. I’m ready to give back to the club that helped me develop into a collegiate soccer player. I’m thankful for the opportunity Ben and Billy have given me to be a part of the culture again, but as a coach this time. It’s a great way to start my coaching career,” shared Perez.

“Bringing Simar back to the club is a poignant hire and sees one of our own now giving back to the club - which is a proud moment. Simar is one of the most talented players that this club has produced, captaining his FC Wisconsin team to a National Championship in 2017. He has been successful at the Division I level and will be able to share important insight with our players on what it takes to be successful at the next level. He has an excellent soccer brain and a coaching career is a natural progression and pathway for him. We are thrilled that ‘one of our own’ will now become a full-time staff member,” said Co-Director of Coaching Ben Shepherd.

Simar will start immediately and be helping out at nearly all our sessions and competitions. When you see him, please welcome him back!  We are so excited to see his impact, not to mention to see how excited our players are to have such a prolific player and ambassador of the club back coaching and helping his FC Family reach its goals.
