Five FC Wisconsin Alumni Make Green Bay Voyageurs FC Roster

New soccer franchise FC Green Bay Voyageurs has added five FC Wisconsin alumni to its roster for its inaugural 2019 season. The Voyageurs franchise, which is an affiliate to the new professional team Forward Madison FC, will offer the opportunity to top collegiate players from across the Midwest to compete in a new league called the USL 2 (formerly known as the PDL) over the summer months.

Former FC Wisconsin players Bradan Allen (Drake University), Antonio DeCastro (Cardinal Stritch University), Leo Villa (Marquette University), and fellow FC Wisconsin North standouts Jaden Stevenson (Northern Illinois University) and Alex Hummel (Wright State University) will all play for the Voyageurs this upcoming season.

“It’s great to see so many of our FC Wisconsin alumni getting opportunities to play at the next level and staying within the game at a high level. It’s a credit to their hard work and dedication that they have earned this opportunity and we look forward to seeing their success over the course of the summer,” said Co-Director of Coaching Ben Shepherd.

The Voyageurs will play their home games at the new Capital Credit Union Park in downtown Green Bay. For DeCastro, Villa, and Hummel - all from the Green Bay area - it will be somewhat of a homecoming getting to showcase their abilities within their local community.

FC Wisconsin North Director of Coaching Marc Baumbach added, “I am proud to see two of our FC Wisconsin North players being given the opportunity to play at a higher level. The commitment, dedication, character and work ethic that Alex and Jaden display is amazing to see. Both of them stay connected with the North program and it speaks volumes about the North family and broader FC Wisconsin family.  We are excited to see their development over the season with the Voyageurs.”

FC Wisconsin North alum Alex Hummel added, “FC Wisconsin North has always provided me a great opportunity to develop my game. I was fortunate enough to be part of the FC Wisconsin family, which enabled me to get the training and support needed to play at a higher level. I love the continued opportunities to return to FC Wisconsin North for training sessions over the winter and summer to help prepare me for the Green Bay Voyageurs season.”
