FC Wisconsin sends FOUR teams to NPL Regionals

FC Wisconsin, who competes in the National Premier league, will send four of its five teams to the NPL Regional Playoff in Rockford, IL.  Among the unprecedented four of five teams qualifying for Regionals, in hopes of gaining a birth in the National Championships are, the U13’s, U14’s, U16’s and U18’s.

Birth year:  NPL has their teams already rostered and playing in their appropriate birth year as opposed to the USYS August date.  So, FC Wisconsin are already ahead of the curve in forming the birth year teams for next year, as this is already how the teams are set up for the NPL competition.  “We set a goal at the beginning of the year, to have all our birth year teams in the hunt for NPL Regionals.  We have hit that goal and more, by not only qualifying for Regionals with four teams but also winning our NPL conference.  With the US Soccer Birth Year Mandates taking affect this coming season, it certainly bodes well for the club moving forward knowing our teams in birth year are even more dynamic and successful.  We are one step closer at taking the club to a boys National Championship Playoff.  More hard work is needed but we feel the boys are up for it” said Co-DOC Billy Solberg.

The NPL Regionals will run June 11-13th at the Sportscore Complex in Rockford Illinois, utilizing their new turf facility.

Many of the top clubs in the Midwest have already qualified as well including the Chicago Sockers (IL), Vardar (MI), Columbus Crew (OH), St Louis Scott Gallagher (MO), Michigan Wolves (MI) and Campton United (IL) to name a few.  “This is a massive accomplishment to send four teams to the NPL Regionals.  Currently we are the only club amongst those in the Regionals to send four age groups from their club.  Setting goals, working toward those goals within our long-term player development curriculum and helping more players reach their goal of college soccer than any other club in the state is what the Club prides itself on. The success of these teams shows the clubs player pool potential and we are excited for these teams to have this opportunity” said Co-DOC Ben Shepherd.
