FC Wisconsin Qualifies for ECNL Super Cup

FC Wisconsin has qualified for the inaugural ECNL Conference Super Cup as the number one ranked team in the Midwest division. The 2020 ECNL Conference Super Cup will feature the top four teams from each conference based on its clubs overall record from the 2018-2019 season. As a result of the success that the club had last year across all age groups, FC Wisconsin is the top ranked club in the Midwest Conference Super Cup and will compete against the Chicago Eclipse, Ohio Premier, and the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.

The clubs will meet over the weekend of March 27-29 in Cincinnati, Ohio to compete in a unique competition format that will see each club field a single team comprised of its top players from the U15, U16, U17 and U18 ECNL age groups.

“We are extremely excited and proud to have qualified for the first ever ECNL Super Cup, especially being the number one seed. Chicago Eclipse won an ECNL National Championship last year as well as having another age group in the finals; Ohio Premier in the past two years has won an ECNL National Championship as well as a USYS National Championship, and obviously Pittsburgh Riverhounds are a USL professional club. This highlights the strength of our conference and it is a testament to our players, families and coaches that we have the opportunity to compete against such esteemed competition. This will be a great challenge and opportunity for our players,” said Co-Director of Coaching Ben Shepherd.

The ECNL Super Cup will provide a new competitive platform to challenge top players at all ages against elite opposition. The semi-finals of the Midwest Conference Super Cup will be on Saturday, March 28 with the final and consolation games on the Sunday, March 29.

“We are not only super proud to be involved, but honored to be ranked number one in our conference along side some of the best developmental clubs in the country such as RSL Arizona, Miramar, Penn Fusion, and NCFC. However, the most exciting part of this event will be yet another opportunity for our players to showcase themselves in front of college coaches. Massive thanks to the ECNL for all their work to showcase players,” added Billy Solberg, Co-Director of Coaching.
