FC Wisconsin adds Carreon and Bannister to Coaching Staff

FC Wisconsin is thrilled to announce the hiring of two more excellent coaches in Michael Carreon and Peter Bannister to its staff for the upcoming season.

“We are excited to add Michael and Peter to our coaching staff for next season. Both Michael and Peter have first hand experience of how we work at FC Wisconsin and are committed to the Clubs vision of being a player development driven club.  Both will add tremendous value both on and off the field and with the continued growth of the club it was important to add two quality individuals to our staff.”  Said Co-Director of Coaching Ben Shepherd.

Carreon originally from El Paso, Texas has coached in the Appleton area since moving to Wisconsin in 2006. Carreon joins FC Wisconsin having coached at Appleton Soccer Club since 2013. In his time with Appleton, Carreon helped coach the U14 Appleton Boys team to the State Cup Final in 2015.  “Having had my eldest son play with FC Wisconsin for the past 3 years I have been able to see firsthand the development that takes place at the club. FC Wisconsin is the top club in the state in developing players to play at the next level, and I am honored and extremely grateful for the opportunity to join the FC coaching staff,” said Carreon on joining the staff.

Bannister a native of Derby, England joins the staff after a stellar College career at Cardinal Stritch University.  In 3 seasons with the Wolves Bannister scored 32 goals and recorded 13 assists leading the team in goals and points each year. Throughout his collegiate career, Bannister won the 2012 CCAC Freshmen of the Year award, was named First Team All Conference on three occasions along with being named a 2013 All Academic Student- Athlete. In his senior year he co-captained the team as well as being recognized as a NAIA All-American.

On joining the Club, Bannister said, "I'm thrilled to be reunited with my former coach, Ben Shepherd. As my coach for two years, Ben educated me on the tactical and technical side of the game that allowed me to develop and have a successful college career. I look forward to now developing my coaching career under both Billy and Ben. Their passion and success for developing players is something I wanted to be involved in and I'm excited to be part of the FC Wisconsin family."

“When looking to hire coaches, we look for coaches who are not only great educators and teachers of the game but are unwavering on how to play the game the right way, and how to properly develop players long term. Both Michael and Peter have these qualities and will fit in seamlessly to our Collaborative Coaching model.  Both will help continue to lift the club to new levels.  We can’t wait to see all the positive impact they bring” Said Co-DOC Billy Solberg.
